I swore I wasn’t going to write about this.
I mean, what else is there to say? I’ve already said it. So many damn times. Literally, the last thing I wrote about.
But I’ve been so angry this week—white-hot angry.
Tears of anger - angry.
I’m pissed off.
Frankly, if you aren’t, check your pulse.
I’m pissed that when I drop my daughter off at school, my KINDERGARTNER, I’m not sure that she won’t face down a madman with an AR-15. She’s five years old. Why is this a thing? I’m not certain that she will make it out of that building alive.
That makes me so fucking angry.
And yeah, some of my readers might not like the curse word there. Sorry.
No. I’m not.
Salty language isn’t the problem here.
Kids sitting in classrooms being murdered by guns - that’s the problem. Grandmothers shopping for groceries on a Saturday but instead being gunned down - that’s the problem.
I’m very, very angry.
Time hasn’t soothed anything. It’s made me angrier.
I’m angry because we have elected officials willfully looking the other way.
If I hear one more freaking time that there’s nothing we can do I’m going to scream. Again. I’ve already screamed in my car.
Yelling at the universe because American politicians don’t want to “play politics” about gun legislation. You’re a politician. That’s literally your job. They are the only ones you can actually make a lasting and lawful change.
They just won’t. Because they are cowards. And we keep voting them in.
How are we here?
How is this our reality?
Senator Ted Cruz had the gall to say that America is the safest nation on earth. He said that. This week. AT A VIGIL FOR 19 CHILDREN AND 2 TEACHERS WHO WERE GUNNED DOWN IN A CLASSROOM.
Oh, and his answer for school shootings? Schools with only one door.
He thinks we are stupid.
Is this who we are now? Just ambivalent and pathetic?
Arrogant for no reason?
Are we really that spineless?
Pro-life? Drop it. Just… drop it.
Because if you were, you’d be as angry as I am. Marching to tell your representatives that you won’t stand for kids being murdered by guns. Because that’s what pro-life people should be doing.
If you’re pro-life, you’d be furious that ALL of us could be gunned down getting groceries, going for a walk, or teaching in schools.
If you’re pro-life, you wouldn’t make a defense for guns over human lives, from elementary to the elderly.
We’re all tired. We’re scared, anxious, and well, angry. I’ve always tried to make a point here to not try to piss people off. I usually just want to make my voice heard and you can make your own mind up.
But we’re talking about life and death. Too much death. Too many lives lost.
For what?
Don’t argue the 2nd Amendment. We all know this isn’t what the authors had in mind. Keeping a gun collection for target practice or for fun isn’t the same as protecting yourself against a tyrannical government.
Why is this still a thing?
Good guy with a gun? Just… don’t. We know that’s a fallacy.
Stop saying there’s nothing we can do. We all know that’s a lie. It’s a flat-out, bald-faced lie spread as propaganda.
They say you shouldn’t make decisions when you’re angry. Usually, that’s probably true. Maybe this is the time to make angry decisions.
Because enough is enough.
Enough.
